Top Tips for Creating Effective Print Materials for Your Next Event

83% of brands say that event marketing has consistently increased their sales. Bringing compelling printed materials enhances the impact and is a powerful way to promote your product or services at these events.

By using print materials like flyers, pamphlets, business cards, posters, banners, and brochures, you can create a memorable impression that will stay with prospective customers long after they’ve left the event.

According to Scientific American, research over the last two decades reveals that individuals tend to understand and remember text better when reading from paper compared to screens. So don’t forget to include print marketing in your event strategy.

Top Tips for Creating Effective Print Materials for Your Next Event

Keep It Simple

Make sure your design is simple so that the critical information can be easily read and understood at a glance.

Avoid clutter, and include only essential elements like logos, text, graphics, and colors. Remember that people will likely scan as they walk by your booth.

Get Creative

Make your materials stand out from the competition by incorporating creative elements like foil, texture, die cuts, or unique folds.

These unique touches will help draw people in and make them more likely to remember your brand.

Think Local

If participating in a local event, consider customizing some of your print materials for that specific audience.

For instance, you could include a specific offer or create visuals that feature local places and landmarks.

Make the Most of Social

Include your social media handles on all your print materials so people can follow you immediately.

Also, consider using QR codes, which make it easier for people to quickly pull up your website or social accounts on their mobile devices.

Print Products People Will Remember

In addition to flyers, brochures, and business cards, consider exploring other print products that will make a lasting impression.

Some great options include:

Stickers

Great for giveaways or simply as eye-catching additions to your booth. Consider die-cut stickers with unique shapes or foil accents for an extra “wow” factor.

Posters

Whether you’re looking for something to hang up in or around your booth, posters are a great way to make an impact. Add a frame or easel for added style points.

Magnets

Get creative with car magnets that feature your logo and contact information. This is an easy way to get your name out there when people are traveling to and from the event.

Notepads

Make sure your name stays on everyone’s desk with branded notepads that remind people of your brand every time they use them.

By making print marketing a part of your event strategy, you can create powerful impressions that will stay with prospective customers long after the event.

10 Key Marketing Terms Every Small Business Owner Needs to Know

If you're new to print marketing (or marketing in general) for your small business, it is easy to get confused by all the industry-specific jargon. But fear not. We're here to provide clarity and guidance!

Regardless of the print media you choose, be it postcards, brochures, or posters, implementing effective marketing strategies is essential for getting the best results. And a critical step towards success is gaining an understanding of the fundamental terms used in marketing.

Here is a list of 10 essential terms you need to know as a small business owner.

10 Key Marketing Terms Every Small Business Owner Needs to Know

1. Branding

Branding refers to all the processes that help create a unique business identity.

Effective branding is vital to making your business stand out from competitors in a positive way. Branding elements include your company's name, mission, logo, general theme, tone of voice, etc.

2. Content Marketing

Content marketing revolves around creating information intended to be consumed by an audience.

Good content should offer helpful information in an easy-to-read format, eventually driving more sales.

3. Lead

A lead is an individual or organization reached or engaged by your brand content.

They have shown a level of interest in your brand and are likely to make a purchase. Simply put, your leads are your potential customers.

4. Lead Generation

Lead generation refers to a business's methods or tactics to attract potential customers (leads).

It often involves acquiring these would-be customers' contact and demographic details, learning about the target market, and eventually converting them into buyers.

5. Sales Funnel

The process that guides the leads you have generated from the time they discover your business to when they make a purchase is called the sales funnel.

It is typically made up of several steps in increasing levels of commitment for the lead until the sale is completed. The stages in a sales funnel are not the same for every business. While some use a simple 3-step model, others use a more complicated approach.

6. Buyer Persona

A buyer persona refers to a fictional individual with specific attributes that make them your ideal customer.

Knowing your buyer persona will help you adapt your marketing strategy to generate more leads.

7. Demographics

Demographics refer to the specific data or attributes that define your target audience.

Examples of demographics include age, sex, location, occupation, and income.

8. Call to Action (CTA)

A call to action is a prompt that urges readers to make a purchase or carry out some specific activity.

Some examples of CTAs are asking your reader to visit your website or contact customer service. Research shows that a good CTA can increase your conversions by up to 28%.

9. Testimonial

A testimonial is a positive review by your previous or current customer about your business.

Publishing a customer's statement about your product or service's value to them in your brochure or newsletter will boost your credibility and encourage potential customers.

10. Return on Investment (ROI)

Return on investment is a method of project evaluation.

It measures a business's profit (return) in carrying out a project with the money (investment) spent on that project. ROI can help you determine the most profitable marketing strategy for your business.

With a solid understanding of these fundamental terms, you're on your way to navigating the world of marketing with confidence!

3 Inspiring Complementary Color Combinations

Did you know that 93% of shoppers focus primarily on visual appearance when making a purchase?

This is precisely why colors can be so important when it comes to the way that your print designs impact your audience! Understanding which colors pair together well and which don't make your printed marketing materials look more professional and appealing.

One concept that's especially helpful to remember when designing your printed materials is complementary colors. Complementary colors fall directly across from one another on the color wheel.

Using complementary colors creates a defined, vibrant, and bold look for your design. Make sure to choose shades of those colors that flatter one another, and avoid combining too many different pairings of complementary colors within the same print design to prevent a clashing look.

Go ahead and use these complementary color pairings to level up your next print design.

3 Inspiring Complementary Color Combinations

1. Blue and Orange

If you incorporate these colors into your company's advertising, they might combine to make an excellent experience for your customers.

Blue psychologically evokes feelings of stability, trust, and calm. With this in mind, you could use it to reinforce consumers' confidence in your brand. Use blue coloring for any guarantees or certification logos on your print materials.

Orange is also a very strategic color that you can use to encourage customer engagement. It symbolizes creativity, enthusiasm, and accomplishment. Just like red, this is one of the more intense colors, so you can use it to emphasize the call-to-action in your print design.

2. Yellow and Purple

These two colors can be flattering when paired together for print designs.

Yellow is a fantastic choice for marketing materials. It commonly creates feelings of positivity, happiness, and fun, which can be used to your company's advantage. Highlight sale prices with yellow, or use it as your design's border color or background.

Purple is typically best to use as an accent color in your design so that its darkness doesn't overtake the rest of the print. It's still great to include since it's tied psychologically to feelings of luxury, royalty, and wisdom.

3. Red and Green

While it's probably best to stick to either deeper shades of these colors or more soft pastel tones unless you're aiming for a more Christmas-like theme, these two are great options for your print marketing.

The color red provokes feelings of urgency, increases appetite, and encourages action. As one of the boldest and most intense colors on the color wheel, consider using it to draw attention to important parts of your print design, like a call to action or a bubble icon advertising a sale.

On the other hand, the color green typically reminds customers of health, nature, and growth. Consider using green in your print materials if you're selling a nature or health-related product.

By leveraging these inspiring complementary color combinations, you can elevate the impact of your print designs and make a lasting impression on your target audience.

Do you want to experiment with colors and unleash the full potential of your next print marketing campaign? Contact us today, and we can help you get started.

9 Genius Ideas for Driving Traffic to Your Blog with Print

Direct mail remains the medium that gives you direct and reliable access to nearly everyone in your target market.

Direct mail marketing is often part of a bigger picture and longer sales cycle. It's the most effective way of reaching people in the comfort of their homes and offices, allowing them to pass along the information to others easily.

When it comes to driving traffic to your blog, combining the tangible appeal of print materials with the allure of your digital content can yield remarkable results.

Keep reading for strategies to help entice readers to explore the engaging content you offer.

9 Genius Ideas for Driving Traffic to Your Blog with Print

1. Use Links

Send newsletters with your link on them.

Use a teaser on your printed piece to pique their interest, then follow up with a link to your blog. Create a desire in them to know more about the topics you have written about by giving them glimpses of the information in the newsletter.

2. Grab Attention

Send a postcard with a blog title on it and a statistic that gets people's attention.

This will encourage people to search online for your information.

3. Expand Reach with Print

Create a printed piece that promotes your blog, such as an insert in a newspaper.

By giving people a little bit of information, such as a teaser, you can connect with them and get them to take the next step of going to your blog on their phone or computer.

4. Catch Their Eye

When you decorate your entrance, hang posters that highlight your blog.

Use teasers and fun tidbits that can be found in your blog. Maybe it's a statistic or an interesting piece of information.

5. Be Creative

Make sure your headlines are catchy.

People won't want to visit your site if you are overlooked. Spend time thinking about the headline rather than just using the first one that comes to mind. This is important so that people will be curious and check out more of what you have written.

6. Offer Exclusive Content

Provide coupons or discounts when people go to your blog.

Use a printed piece to introduce them to your latest sales. Then tell them to go to your blog for the rest of the information, then offer them a special deal.

7. Concentrate on Consistency

Coordinate your online message with the direct mail pieces.

If the two are not cohesive, it will confuse the readers, and they won't read on. They must see the two working together to know they've reached the right place.

8. Use QR Codes

A QR code on your printed pieces allows readers to scan them and go directly to your blog.

They are easy for people to use and provide an easy and direct path to where you want the person to go.

9. Provide Free Reports

This is a great way to get people to go online and see what you have to say.

Make sure you pick topics they are interested in that apply to their businesses. Then, you can inform them exactly where to turn for the information using direct mail.

When printing your next project, be sure to contact us.

Boost Foot Traffic to Your Store: Two Proven Print Marketing Strategies

In an era dominated by digital communication, print marketing stands out as a tangible and impactful medium that captures attention and resonates with consumers.

According to one recent study, approximately 70% of households with an income of at least $100,000 are newspaper readers. Along the same lines, it has been estimated that about 95% of those under 25 read magazines. Those are just two of the many statistics that help illustrate that print marketing won't just get your message in front of a larger audience - it will help you reach a younger and more affluent one, too.

However, using print marketing materials is only half the battle. You still need to craft a purpose-driven campaign built from the ground up with a precise goal. Case in point: if you want to boost foot traffic to your brick-and-mortar store using print marketing, there are a few proven strategies you can lean into to do it.

Boost Foot Traffic to Your Store: Two Proven Print Marketing Strategies

Master the Art of Color and Emotion

One of the great things about print marketing, in general, is that it is tangible.

As opposed to something like an email that can be quickly deleted or ignored, print collateral is something you can hold in your hand. You can put it up on the refrigerator and glance at it throughout the day, a factor that small business owners can utilize with the right approach.

Remember that color choice significantly influences people's feelings when exposed to your messaging when designing your collateral. Red, for example, denotes excitement, passion, and even action. This would be a great color to lean into if you were having an in-person event that people wouldn't want to miss out on.

Yellow, on the other hand, conveys feelings like originality and enthusiasm. If you were sending out a print campaign about a new product launch and wanted people to head into your store to check it out in person, yellow would be one of the colors you would rely on to motivate them.

The Power of Personalized Promotions

Another proven strategy you can use to boost foot traffic to your store involves extracting even more value out of the data your customers are already creating each day.

Every time someone walks into your store and makes a purchase, you learn more about them. Based on that insight, you should create personalized promotions and offer relevant rewards that can only be redeemed in person. If you know people who recently purchased Product A, you could send out an in-person coupon for a discount on the price of the related Product B.

Not only does this help get someone to your physical location, but it also goes a long way towards building trust in your business at the same time. These will help you generate more foot traffic and repeat in-person customers.

If you'd like to find out more information about how you can boost foot traffic to your store with the right approach to print marketing, or if you have any additional questions you'd like to go over with someone in a bit more detail, please don't hesitate to contact us today.

6 Ways to Boost Your Sales with Social Proof

Did you know you can incorporate what your customers say about your business in your print and digital marketing to boost your company's sales?

When other people engage in something, it triggers the brain to reduce the perception of risk associated with an idea or activity, creating social proof. When you utilize social proof successfully, you convey to potential customers that buying your product or service is the safe thing to do.

Authenticity, transparency, and honesty are paramount to the success of social proof by building loyalty and trust with your customers.

Sound complicated? It's not.

6 Ways to Boost Your Sales with Social Proof

1. Build Your Social Media Reach

You need to build your social media platform by asking for online reviews.

This is a trusted source for many people looking to do business.

People regularly check the reviews online to see what others have experienced and decide who to do business with. Nearly nine out of ten consumers read reviews before making a purchase

2. List Customer Experiences

Listing customers' experiences online will encourage people to follow the pack and try you.

Ask customers if you can get a quick testimonial from them and have them write it down or write it as they tell you what they've experienced.

3. Mix It Up

Don't just ask for one type of review.

Spread the reviews on multiple sites, such as Yelp, Facebook, Google, etc. Approximately 59% of consumers look at two to three review sites before making a purchase decision.

4. Help Your Customer Visualize

Use staged photos and action shots of people using your product.

People trust this much more than an ad. They will see people just like them using your product or services and think they might benefit from getting a hold of you, too.

5. Use YouTube

Show your customers unboxing your products and freebies or learning about a contest they won from your business.

This is exciting and fun for people to watch, engaging them in what you're business is doing.

6. Promote Your Accomplishments

If your company won an award or received recognition in some way from a third party, capitalize on this by advertising it on your website, in your marketing materials, and online.

If you have an article written about you or your company, post it online. If any trust badges are available, place them on your website.

These are a few ways to build social proof and help people decide on their own that they want to do business with you. Seeing others trust you and use your product or service encourages them to do the same.

If you need signs to post on your company's doors to encourage people to give reviews, or you want posters or business cards to feature QR codes to link to a review site, we can help.

Understanding and Planning for the Paper Shortage

Paper is a critical resource and an essential part of our daily lives.

If you didn't know, a paper shortage started last year and will likely continue in the coming year. In times of uncertainty, it helps to have all the information, so let's talk about it!

Understanding and Planning for the Paper Shortage

The Paper Shortage Issue

In recent years, a few North American paper mills closed their doors as aging infrastructure and rising labor costs, combined with strict environmental regulations, made it increasingly difficult to keep up with the competition.

Many mills have switched from paper production to packaging to replace this lost capacity. This shift to a focus on packaging resulted in nearly 20% less paper production from 2019's supply. Many companies are stockpiling more paper in anticipation of a continued shortage expected in the coming year.

In the past few years, we also experienced a pandemic-induced shortfall in supply. This has led to reliance on overseas sources, which comes with its own set of obstacles. Recently, there have not been enough containers or ships to transfer materials made and acquired by US markets in the Pacific.

The shortage has highlighted the need for increased global collaboration to ensure that international trade and supply chains are as resilient as possible.

Paper Shortage Implications

We will do everything we can to keep you on time and budget throughout the shortage.

But we do want to acknowledge that it is possible, at some point, you could experience an increase in price as we, too, are experiencing an overall marginal rise in prices across the industry.

It is also possible that some print materials, such as specialty paper stock, will be harder to obtain. So, if you have a particular project in mind that requires a specialty paper, the sooner you can let us know, the more time we have to obtain the materials.

If you are working on a project with a tight timeline, we will happily offer you suggestions based on what we already have in stock to speed up the process.

Paper Shortage Solutions

These excellent opportunities can help you stay on track with your business objectives during this time of paper shortage:

  • Proactive planning with lead times
  • Maintaining an open line of communication throughout the entire printing process
  • Considering sustainable sources of paper, such as recycled paper and alternative materials

And here's what we are doing as a business and an industry:

  • Advocating for increased reforestation efforts to help replenish the world's forests
  • Staying informed about changes in the supply chain that could impact our business operations
  • Monitoring pricing trends to anticipate potential cost increases due to shortages and advise you in the process

While this is a real challenge, it doesn't mean that print materials have lost their place in marketing and advertising strategies!

In fact, with many businesses relying on digital media, a well-designed printed item can stand out from the crowd and make a big impression.

Print advertising has never been more valuable than it is today!

Whatever your print needs, we've got you covered. Contact our team today to get started on your next print project.

5 Graphic Design Trends to Look Out for in 2023

2023 is just around the corner, and a new year comes with new graphic design trends.

Graphic design matters because it captures the attention of your audience, aids in memory, and influences the consumer's first impressions. This is why the global graphic design industry was worth $45.8 billion in 2021.

Make sure your business stays up-to-date with the latest graphic design trends.

5 Graphic Design Trends to Look Out for in 2023

1. Science Fiction-Inspired Designs

Many businesses are aiming to look futuristic with science fiction-inspired graphic designs.

Certain elements are common within science fiction designs.

  • Color. Shades of blue- like cyan- and neon colors are prevalent. There's often a contrast between light and dark.
  • Shapes. Sharp lines, circles, and geometric shapes give off science-fiction vibes.
  • Fonts. Science fiction fonts are an entire genre, often showing distorted letters that look stretched, chopped, or duplicated with inconsistent lettering size.
  • 3-D images. Although graphic design usually cannot physically be 3-D, many science fiction designs give off the illusion of 3-D.

If you want your business to appear modern, go with a science-fiction-inspired design.

2. Font Trends

There are four main 2023 font trends for which to look out.

  • Distorted fonts twist, stretch, and fade. For example, refer to the Cobya font, inspired by the ocean's waves.
  • Condensed fonts are great at packing a lot of words into a small space. However, they can sometimes appear aggressive.
  • Sans-serif fonts consist of neat, clean lines. Serif fonts, or those with decorative lines or tapers, have saturated the graphic design industry over the years. However, sans-serif fonts are expected to make a comeback due to their minimalistic nature and reader accessibility.
  • Flared fonts are a combination of serif and sans-serif fonts. They appear friendly and optimistic, making them great for family or children-oriented materials.

Experiment with different types of fonts, and don't be hesitant to make some unique choices.

3. Liquid Gradients

Liquid gradients are a unique twist on the popular gradient trend. However, this one looks like glossy, colorful marble.

Add it as a background or an accent!

4. Rich Colors

Neutral colors have been all the rage. Perhaps it was to compensate for the recent chaos.

However, bold, rich colors are expected to come back, and it's time to let a little color back into the world.

5. Memes

Memes consist of funny pictures with witty captions.

Although especially popular on social media, memes are expected to travel into the graphic design world. Memes are memorable because they're funny, and this comedic aspect makes them more likely to be shared among friends and colleagues.

Graphic design trends are constantly changing. Know the projected 2023 trends so your business can remain up-to-date.

Whether you try a trend or go with the tried and true, we are here to get your graphic designs printed! Feel free to reach out to us today!

6 Steps to Find Your Print Marketing Target Audience

When you advertise, you need to know your target audience. And the same is true in print marketing.

A target market is the set of consumers that a company plans to sell to or reach with marketing activities.

A target audience is a group or segment within that target market that is being served in advertisements. The target audience, therefore, is a more specific subset of a target market.

Your target audience is united by common characteristics like demographics, e.g., men, women, teenagers, or children, and interests, like reading, running, or soccer.

To get your marketing message to reach this specific group of people, you need to know the decision maker and who supports them. Therefore, it's vital to examine your target audience, so messages are exciting to the reader.

This exercise will help define who to target in your marketing efforts.

6 Steps to Find Your Print Marketing Target Audience

1. Determine who already buys your product.

Look at the demographics and patterns of your current consumers.

What age are they? Are they men or women or both? The better you understand the individuals already buying your products, the better you can reach new individuals who follow similar patterns.

2. Watch the competition.

Look at who buys your competition's products and services.

What are they focusing on right now? It could provide insight into what you should be focusing on at the moment too.

3. Develop personas.

Try to create 3-5 different types of personas—people who would typically buy your product or service.

Figure out what makes them tick. What do they watch on TV? Who do they vote for? What type of food do they eat? Build an entire personality profile of the person who would use your services.

4. Conduct surveys.

Ask for information from those who buy your product.

You can do this with more formal methods like a paper or online survey, and you can even offer an incentive for participation. You can also take a more informal approach by simply talking to customers about their desires and preferences for your products and services.

5. Be flexible in who you reach.

Your target audience can change depending on the offer you are making.

That is why it is so important to get specific about who you want to see it. Don't generalize!

6. Use marketing metrics.

Metrics help you take the guesswork out of knowing if your marketing is reaching the intended audience.

Over 75% of businesses are already using marketing metrics to report how their campaigns directly influence revenue.

When focusing on your target audience, be specific. And make sure your marketing materials are fulfilling the goals of your customers.

We can help you create engaging print marketing pieces that will catch your customers' eyes and help them take notice of you. Contact us today!

7 Top Tips to Get Creative With Offline Marketing

How do you maximize your investment in marketing?  Utilize unique offline marketing techniques to get people's attention!

There are countless ideas for getting inspired with offline marketing, from traditional to off-the-wall. Take what you can and let it spur some creativity in your minds.

7 Top Tips to Get Creative With Offline Marketing

1. Get Creative With Your Business Card

A business card is often the first impression, and you want to make it last.

Try printing it vertically, adding rounded corners, or creating a die-cut image. Use bold colors that stand out against the competition.

2. Hold In-Person Events

According to the Event Marketing 2018 Report, 95% of marketers agree that live events give attendees a valuable opportunity to form in-person connections in an increasingly digital world.

Give people a chance to talk to you and others from your company, and create bonds that will last a lifetime.

Don't forget to have flyers, rack cards, brochures, and business cards ready for them to pick up.

3. Volunteer

Join volunteer organizations that will introduce you to other professionals who desire to help the community.

By getting out in the community, you will get your name out and help you build connections. Bring along your business cards so you can have some conversations about where you work and get information on others.

4. Build Loyalty With Rewards

While investing in attracting new customers, don't neglect opportunities for retaining existing ones.

Give away fun gifts with your logo: magnets, flashlights, Frisbees, T-shirts, mugs, water bottles, and more. These will keep the magic going after the sales call is over.

5. Create a Game

Use a tailor-made BINGO card that leads them around the store, then leads to a prize if they get BINGO.

Have signs to advertise your newest game. Invite everyone to play and win prizes.

6. Go Head-To-Head With the Competition

Don't be afraid to promote your items over the competition.

If it makes sense, have a "taste test" as Coke and Pepsi did in the 1980s. Let the audience decide what items they like better.

Be sure to have flyers made up to announce this event to let people know when it will be.

4 Things Your Direct Mail Piece Needs to Convert

In its simplest form, a call to action tells the recipient to buy now.

However, sometimes saying, "buy now!" won't be quite as effective as an alternative, more creative strategy.

Below are some tips for crafting a call to action for your print marketing campaign so you can have a better response rate than the average of 4.23%.

4 Things Your Direct Mail Piece Needs to Convert

1. Be straightforward

Tell the reader what they can expect if they complete the advertised action.

No games, no tricks. If you say this is what will happen, then advertise it accurately. If the deal only holds if they buy $X in merchandise, then clearly communicate that. You're not doing yourself any favors by making a misleading call to action. It'll just frustrate the client.

Avoid misleading calls to action by including relevant numbers, such as pricing and discounts.

2. Use strong command verbs

Begin your call to action with a strong command verb.

Strong command verbs can help people follow your call to action. In one study, ads with strong action verbs performed about 89% better than those without.

Examples include,

  • Buy the customer-favorite product now!
  • Shop at our newly updated store!
  • Order through our quick and easy website!
  • Download the newsletter for insider knowledge!
  • Subscribe to be the first to know about all our amazing deals!

Often, people have a hard time saying no, even to words on a page. By using confident action verbs, people will do it.

3. Be enthusiastic

Enthusiasm is contagious.

If customers feel you are enthusiastic and believe in your product and service, they'll get excited too. In writing, enthusiasm is best shown through exclamation points, so use them often!

4. Advertise scarcity

People are busy, so you must find a way to get them to act immediately.

Including a sense of scarcity in your call to action by showing it's for a limited time or while supplies last will prompt people to act fast. This will help prevent people from putting direct mail in their "I'll get to it later" pile.

5. Differentiate from your competition

Companies with similar niches can sometimes advertise similar calls to action.

Make yourself stand out from the competition by brainstorming ways your call to action can be unique. First, think of the things your company does that are better than the competition. Then find a way to weave that into the call to action.

Try getting creative and unique by asking your customers to complete an action not commonly requested. For example, try telling customers to read customer reviews instead of prompting them to buy, shop, order, download, or subscribe. Customers trust other customers' reviews. If you have positive customer reviews, advertise them in your call to action. Potential clients can see what items or services are most popular and why.

Calls to action are a crucial part of your marketing technique. Without it, customers often won't act. Using strong command verbs and enthusiasm makes target markets likelier to respond.

With all the thought and research you put into your print marketing campaigns, you will want an easy, smooth printing process. Once you've settled your call to action (and a thousand other details), reach out for a hassle-free printing process!

Top 8 Print Marketing Design Hints

Designing marketing materials has much room for creativity, but you should also avoid common mistakes.

If you aren't a graphic designer, you may be tempted to do your own thing, but there are some definite no-nos in design. Here are nine hints to guide you.

Top 8 Print Marketing Design Hints

1. Have a clear concept for your marketing campaign

When people start designing, they often keep adding to it without a clear idea of the desired design.

This is a big red flag that your design is off to a bad start. You need to know what you want your design to look like.

2. Use symbolism

For example, try to enhance the text's mood with a sketch, a drawing, an image, or a picture representing what you are trying to communicate.

3. Target the right audience with your print media

Your content isn't for everyone.

But there's one particular group of people you should always aim to impress and engage: your target audience.

Think like them. Read like them. Try to entertain and engage them in your words and design.

4. Use white space

Make sure you don't pack everything into your design.

You may have great design ideas, but you don't need to use them all in one place. Instead, save some for future projects.

5. Add pictures and graphics

Don't just pack in the text.

There needs to be a break in the page. Add a pertaining photo or an image of something else with its own caption. Maybe it's a picture of a new employee, a party you had for your clients or a giveaway.

Sometimes the simplest designs are the most effective, so don't overdo it with images. There are ways to make your design clean, clear, and attractive without too many graphics. You want it to look uniform and enhance the text.

6. Be consistent across your marketing channels

Whether it's fonts, colors, or images, make sure you're consistent.

This helps tie your design down into one visually appealing and harmonious look.

So keep it similar, using specific colors, fonts, or designs.

7. Be careful with the fonts

Stay with two to three fonts throughout the publication you are producing.

8. Choose colors wisely

Understanding color theory and psychology can help you use colors at their optimal best.

Colors can set the tone, mood, and style of your design.

Don't go crazy picking a variety of colors. Instead, be consistent and keep the colors in the same family.

5 Leadership Tips For Marketers

Being a leader is a big job, but what does it mean to be a great leader? And how will it transfer into your marketing efforts?

5 Leadership Tips For Marketers

1. Lead by example

You need to show up and lead in how you work. You will not be an effective leader if you talk a big game but don’t do anything.

If you promise to do something, do it. If you offer to explain something, explain it.

Show your employees how effective you are by how much you do (versus just saying what you do). This translates into your marketing efforts when your business follows through on its promises.

When customers see you are a person of your word, it makes a big statement.

2. Be humble

When someone does something above and beyond, acknowledge them. Don’t always talk about yourself. This is true in marketing too.

Show the customer what you can do to help them, rather than just bragging about your achievements.

3. Take care of yourself

Take part in a hobby that might introduce you to new people and prospects.

Make sure you are getting enough rest so that you are refreshed.

One study found that 45% of adults with less than eight hours of sleep were irritable, 52% lost their patience, and 40% felt overwhelmed.

When you aren’t rested, it’s hard to come up with new ideas for your business, and it’s hard to enjoy yourself.

4. Strategic thinking is a must

To be an effective leader, you must have a vision for where you want to go and what you want to accomplish. This is also true in marketing. You need to know what you hope to achieve with each piece you send.

A strategy fails because it’s not defined and communicated well.

Leaders must understand the company’s business goals and align the marketing department to meet and exceed those objectives.

5. Be comfortable being uncomfortable

In business, you must go with the flow and be flexible with situations. No one could have predicted the COVID-19 pandemic, but it impacted all of us.

Businesses need to be able to come up with new strategies when things change.

This is the case in marketing as well, as we need to shift our marketing to reach our audience where they are.

There are so many facets to being a great leader and marketer, and these are only a few. We want to help you continue to be the proactive leader you are.

That’s why we want to team up with you to produce your best marketing products ever.
